Port 3 input board (not pictured)

Unlike the newer Barco 801/808 models, the port 3 input board of the Barco 800 is looking for an old and obsolete 5 volt signal level, used with old 1980’s computers. A normal RGB signal from an HD box, scaler or computer will not work through input 3. This board may be pulled out of the set if desired, as it is not normally used when used in a home theater application.

RGB/Video switcher board

This board switches the projector between video, S-video and the RGB inputs. A cable from the controller board switches the board between the various inputs. This board is subject to failure if static electricity appears on the BNC input connectors, and the symptom can be a missing color, one input is dead, or worst case none of the inputs may work. This board is universal between all Barco 500 and 800 sets and may be interchanged. The 5 LED’s on the top edge of the board give a visual indication as to which input is live. Note that without an input signal, the LED’s may not light even though a particular input is selected.

Quad decoder board (not pictured)

This board converts the video input to an RGB level, and detects PAL, NTSC and SECAM signals. There are no user adjustments on this board, and this board rarely fails.
