Hi
I have a Sony G70 and i connected a Toshiba 1080P HD DVD player to it but got no picture through HDMI or Component yet when I connected it to my 86cm CRT TV through Component i got a fantastic picture even though the TV is only 1080i capable.
Now that i could see the players menu i turned it down to 1080i connected it back to the G70 and got a picture, why only 1080i, I have had an Helios upscaling dvd player connected through hdmi @ 1080P before.

Do you have the HD Fury power supply. Lot's of people have reported the need for the 5 volt power supply to reach 1080P.

Hi
I havent got the power supply.
I would like to try one to see if it does make a differance.
Do you know of a brand i could buy locally that meets the Fury requirements?

Check out iPod power supplies, the ones that have the USB power jack on them. Then you'd have to make a power cable with the correct polarity. From what I remember the plug is the same power plug that Nokia uses on their cell phones, WRONG POLARITY and VOLTAGE though, but you may be able to use the cord and get a USB cable and make something up.

Any bulk standard power supply that does 5v, has the correct polarity and can supply the m/amps is fine.

Or just use a USB cable 5v power adapter.

I wasn't aware that 1080P could run on a G70. Is this 1920x1080P?

I have run 1080P before using an Upscaling DVD player connected through the HDMI and get a picture no problems, yet I get a black screen with a HD DVD player.
I do get a picture with 1080i.
I upgraded the Toshiba firmware to 2.8 and I now get the option of 1080P 24 as well as just 1080P, Still no picture.
What does the new option for 1080P 24 mean compared to just 1080P?

Yes
I've run 1080p 60 and 1080p 72 on my G70, right now I'm running 1920x800p 60

1080p/24 means it is output at 24 Hz (the frame rate movies are created at). A CRT will not sync to or display 24 Hz. If you want a multiple of 24, you need to feed the 1080p/24 to a scaler.

Yes
I've run 1080p 60 and 1080p 72 on my G70, right now I'm running 1920x800p 60 |
I guess that's one-up on the XG1351LC.

OK I have fixed the problem.
As I said before I had no problems playing and Upscaled DVD @ 1080P 60 or 50 using the hdmi to fury with a cheap chinese player thats why i could not understand why i could not get an expensive Toshiba HD-DVD player to work @ 1080P.
I bought a power supply locally and connected it up to the HD Fury and all i got was a black screen but I took a chance and bought another power supply of a different make and now it works.

They are both selectable volt power supplies the first one had a choice of 4.5v, 7.0 ect yet when i checked it with a multimeter the 4.5 gave out 5.5v, the other had a choice of 5v ect. and it checked out at 5v so this must have been the problem.

Perhaps run != fully resolve?
My 1271Q runs 1080p.
