|
|
My Barco 708 stopped responding to the remote.
It got worse over a few days and now won't respond at all to either the original handset or the codes in my multfunction remote.
I can use the controls under the flap on the PJ.
I can't use the remote hard wired. I have not tried this before, but connected a mono 3.5mm jack as it says in the manual. The lights come on on the remote, so I guess the connection is OK, but the buttons don't do anything except light up the transmit LED on the remote.
I have tried the reset button on the remote, in case it had lost the PJ address.
Any ideas what has failed or gone out of adjustment?
Regards

Check for a loose connection on the IR board or the controller.

Thanks for that hint Tom.
I have only got the user manual with no diagrams. Could you describe where to find the RCU board?
BTW Another strange thing I have found, is that the built-in controller will only work if I have a jack plugged into the Remote socket on the PJ. I can't even get it to power-up if the jack isn't in.

If circuit is near what other Barcos have (attachment from 801s), I think stereo plug is needed for wired remote.
Never actually tested either cable type.
It's pretty common that TBA2800 ir ic fail, but other Barcos have two ir receivers so remote still working through that other receiver. I think 708 only have one receiver. TBA2800 should locate near ir led/remote jack.

Thanks for that.
It is interesting that the diagram show a stereo plug, as the diagram in the 708 user manual shows the wiring for a mono plug.
I have actually tried both with no success, so will check the internal connections.
There are two IRs, one in front, one in the back.
The other approach I am trying is to talk to the PJ using a laptop.
I downloaded the Barco software from Curt's site. It fires up, but does not see the projector when it scans for a connection. Is there a version later than 1.0, or someone elses software?
(The laptop has Vista. The software is configured to COM4 at 9600bps)
Is there any else I can check?
