Now that the "war" is over what movies would you like to see on Bluray that are not available now?
My top choice would be Moulin Rouge.

By far my favourite (favorite for americans) demo scene for a CRT was the Nirvana- “Smells-like-Teen-Spirit” near the beginning of the movie. Lots of motion, black tuxedos and deep reds that drive digitals crazy and the sound was great too.
Chit...I bet its one of Ron's favorites too.

Good question - it's been a bit frustrating for a single-format man.
If you mean movies that are already on HD DVD:
Matrix, Transformers, King Kong, Apollo 13
If you mean moves that haven't been released on HDM:
Alien, Gladiator, Lord of the Rings

Alien was released on DTheater so its been on HDM. If you have a high bit rate provider, there have also been some decent broadcasts of it.
Given that Blu Ray does not really mandate high quality audio, there is no telling if a BD release would be any better than the DTheater release.

I didn’t realise Alien () was on DVHS, but I do have that (and Gladiator:)) on my UK Sky HD HDD. They are perhaps my favourite films, and D-VHS was my first and very memorable exposure to HD video (& 1.5Mbps DTS?), so that’s a multiple soft spot.
Home entertainment doesn’t get much better for me, but I would expect Blu-ray to be a bit better. Sky HD uses approx 20Mbps channels with up to 1.5 Mbps 5.1 audio. It’s true that BDA doesn’t mandate that level of audio, which is typical of most HD DVD releases, but in practice most BD releases use one of the lossless codecs, and I’d be quite optimistic
While most people are quick to recall The Fifth Element () as an example of how not to do it, I think the first BD film I saw was Vertical Limit, another real clunker that hardly looks any better than a good up-scaled DVD. I’d like to think that those days are behind us, though.
BTW, when I said HDM, I was really referring to BD & HD collectively, and I just wanted to save a couple of second’s worth of typing, which was obviously a false economy.

Actually, that us my true feeling, but I'm being pragmatic now.
I should add another: The Incredibles. The copy I have on D-VHS is pretty good, but has macroblocking in one location and this movie with lossless audio (which is also a wish) would be great!

How fast an Internet connection do you have? The do not throttle bandwidth and with 99.99% completion rates and +90 days with of content in binaries, I say I'm not going anywhere near P2P.
Of course, I pay ~$25/month for this unlimited service at GigaNews.

Yeah, I've never had any luck with any kind of multi-part binary download from newsgroups. For whatever reason my ISP (who has always supported news well) just can't seem to get all the parts. You need a good news-centric ISP like Giganews.
I understand "House of Flying Daggers" is on BD, but it came out with the initial group of BD releases and, like Fifth Element, is a terrible transfer. Missing most/all of the extras, too. Too bad, as that is one I'd like to own. Has anyone heard of any re-mastering of this film?

Gary, the problem is that you feebly rely on your ISP, which is rather amateurish. GigaNews is a premier NNTP service provider. There are groups where they only post complete compilations. Whole movies, CD, etc., etc., etc.
In fact, there are some merchants that post the DVD's in a try before you buy scenario, and they post the entire DVD in ISO format. I have had probably 50:1 ratio of success to failures on downloading DVD images. I usually will download a lot, try them in a virtual DVD drive loader (Daemon Tools), and either burn or delete. I do this about every 60-days when there is sufficient enough 'content' to make a weekend of it.
How much data is that? About a TB worth. Yes, 1,000 GB every couple of months.
