|
|
Is there anyone in the Orlando (Florida) area that could help me with the setup of a Barco 1280s, we have a da-lite screen and a datalift to bring the projector to the desired angle and position. The problem is that we've been trying to calibrate everything for 3 weeks now and we're getting nowhere so we need professional help. It used to be that we could use autoconvergence in the iris section so make everything perfect (if we got everything in the ballpark), now it's only making it worse. Please let me know if there is anyone that could do this? You can contact me at robin.reumers@pandora.be
Thanks
Robin

I know I directed you here, but can you post some pix of what you have now? I would not use the IRIS, but the guided setup is pretty easy to follow, even for a nontechnical person. I'd start with that, then post if you get stuck. I'll jump in if I have time, but this month has been insane..

Sure, I can take some pictures tomorrow. The problem is that I can easily get the green right (with the random access I can make it perfect) but the red and the blue are so weird (even though the cross corresponds) but it has some weird shapes in there that don't make sense to me (and in random access mode you can only change the settings for green)! I'm ready to give it one more shot but I'd feel more confident if someone could come over and make it perfect! If there's no one in this area, I'll give it another shot with the guided setup.
Thanks
Robin

Welcome,
Have you done a reset of geometry and convergence? Setting everything to midpoint will make it easier to setup.
Have you read the installation manual yet?
It sounds like you are running out of adjustment with the random access convergence, have you done all the physical adjustments and geometry before you try to do convergence?

Hi, yes! The first I did yesterday is I went to server and deleted all blocks, then I did the installation setup again (adjusting focus, angle, … Then I used the random access parameters to get the green to look perfect but when I then go to iris and do an autoconvergence (at that point the blue and red look a little off but not that bad) but after this autoconvergence, the blue and red look even worse! I've been trying to figure this out for more than 3 weeks now and unfortunately I'm not getting much progress so I'm looking for someone that could help (also to make sure that everything is as good as it can), it might look good to me but a professional might immediately say that something is seriously wrong!

Forget the IRIS, it's a toy. I've actually never used it..
The focus could be off, the lens could be dirty, or it could be defective.
ONce you have the green convergence correct, that's most of the battle. Then use the random access to run through the R and B zones.

Interesting, so far I did not yet found a way to use random access (geometry) for the R and B zones! When I go to the convergence menu, it asks me:
"red on green", "blue on green", but in the geometry menu, I can only change the skew, bow, … for green. If anyone knows how I could do this for R and B, I'm sure I could get everything perfect, but I have not yet found it.

THe R on G and B on G walks you through it. Go into each convergence menu and it walks you through every step.

Today I deleted all blocks again and started from scratch, now with doing everything manually, I was able to align everything so that the blue, red and green overlap, I still have to do a little focus adjusting. My main concern at the moment is that I see horizontal lines, see the screenshots: http://robin.saestudent.com/Theater/
I ordered the HD-Fury to go from the Samsung Blu-ray player to component on the Barco, so for now I could only test it with S-video. Do you think those lines will go away with full HD (HD-Fury), or am I still doing something wrong?
Thanks
Robin

Looks like scan lines to me.
They should go away as soon as you start feeding it a higher resolution source. S-video is 480i so you have 480 interlaced lines making up the image, with the HD-fury you should be feeding 1080i, this will get rid of the lines.

Don't know what his current status is, but Phil Tuttobene of TAW ( http://www.taw.biz/ ) in Orlando, the guy who got me into this crt mess, used to specialize in Barcos. He's been out of business for quite a while, though, so I don't know how valid any of the numbers on his website are anymore. The last time I communicated with him (last summer, I think), he told me he was living on a ranch.

Ok thanks, for now I'll wait for the HD-Fury to see the difference, then I'll adjust the focus and make everything straight. I'll see if I have any problems after that.
