Hopefully I can get away with describing this without a screen shot, as I think it is a common thing. I just don't know exactly what to call it, or what causes it. Those are my questions to you.
What it is, is a sort of inverse shadow on the right side of a dark area. Okay, that description stinks. Here's what it looks like.
___...
___...
___...
___...
The ___ represent sections of scan lines that are black or very dark. If they transition to a much lighter area abruptly, I see a bit of lighter still "overhang" represented by the ...
Any help?
Thanks.

Sounds like your phase control is off. Go into the phase adjustment and move the image to the right.

I must have done a poor job of describing it after all. H phase is at 54, and moving it further to the right doesn't change anything, aside from un-centering the image of course.
Was it clear that this is not just on the right edge of the whole picture, this is on the right side of dark that switches to light anywhere on the screen?
I guess I will have to try to get a pic, tricky as that might be with my shady camera. It is very small and very subtle, you have to be right up on the screen to see it.

That looks like ringing to me. Cable or source problem, probably not the projector.

Hmm... I don't know if that's ringing. It looks pretty clean.
Could it be a HVPS instablity? It looks like when it goes from black to white, the beam voltage is slewing beyond full-white for a split second before settling back to normal.
Just an idear.

Cable or source... Hmm. Well, I've got a moome vim-hd and 35' of bluejeans' best hdmi cable feeding it from an evga 7900 gto. Any guesses where I should be looking first, or suggestions on how to start troubleshooting?
I don't have another hdmi device, which would otherwise be my first thought.

When I was trying to set up a working 960p custom res (I am back at 720p/96 now), I was sometimes getting the thing where the tubes shut off for a second then come back on right away. Is that another hint toward it possibly being a HV supply issue?

I just checked the internal bars pattern, and can still see the problem. Does that rule out cable/source?

Can anyone give me any suggestions on how to proceed with this? I'm not really sure what my next step should be.
Thanks.

If the internal patterns do it, then it is indeed in the projector, and you need to start swapping boards. HDM, SMPS, VIM and CLM is where I'd start..

I was afraid that might be the answer. Rats. I have no spare anything for testing.
I have been sort of waiting for the Mike Parker-modded boards to start up again, I suppose this adds to my reasons to do that when they become available.
