TV/Projector: Barco BG809s

Barco 1100

I have the neck boards from a barco 1100 and 1600 both have the same barco part number but the ones from the 1600 have a capacitor soldered across the red focus wire and a resistor inside the socket itself.

Does anyone know what the purpose of the capacitor would be?
