Alright, so HD DVD is now getting its ass kicked having lost Warner. That said, what titles would you like to see released in HD DVD that actually could be released for HD DVD, meaning titles not belonging to a company in the Blu-ray camp.

My picks for new titles:

Atonement (Working Title)
No Country for Old Men (Paramount Vantage)
There Will Be Blood (Paramount Vantage)
Charlie Wilson's War (Universal)

My picks for old titles:

Indiana Jones Trilogy (Paramount)
The Godfather Trilogy (Paramount)
Back to the Future Trilogy (Universal)
Gladiator (Universal)

Whoops, No Country for Old Men was co-produced by Miramax. Miramax got the video distribution rights and they only release to Blu-ray.

It wont be happening ... The last two studios are already looking at the latest sales figures... their analysts will be advising them to drop HD-DVD.

HD-DVD has at the most 6 months until the last two studios "fall"

With only 2 stuidios supporting HD-DVD, the sales figures will only get worse from now.

I didn't say those titles WOULD be released. I said the titles SHOULD be released. Also, it's HD DVD, not HD-DVD.

I usually agree with what you say, Oliver, but why do you feel the need to kick his little dream in the nuts here?

Ben, I'm certainly not trying to kick anyone in the nuts - but as you say - this IS a dream. If the OP was serious about his post, he would only be deluding himself - it looked to me that he was serious Smile

Personally, I'm over all the HD-DVD fans refusing to let go. I understand people supporting a product, but I'm reading an awful lot of denial out there. HD-DVD is dead - there isn't another major release until American Gangster is released in a month. The last two weeks since the Warner announcement HD-DVD sales have been 83:17/80:20 and that's even with the huge clearance sales that Amazon are holding.

Players don't even rate a mention.

Then there was correcting my hyphenated spelling of HD-DVD when Toshiba themselves often hyphenate in their marketing literature.

I don't mean to offend anyone - if what I've written upset the OP, I apologise for that, but I don't apologise for stating my views on this subject that really shouldn't be an issue anymore.

Cheers

PS I do own over 30 HD-DVD titles and I'm not a Bluray "fanboy" - I am a supporter of HD for all of us. Its amazing. HD-DVD had a lot of good things going for it - the region free feature was one of my favourites. In fact, it may be one of the reasons HD-DVD died - I was buying all my titles from the US - how many others were doing the same? Artificially bolstering the US figures but reducing the figures in other countries?

The OP can be serious, but with the studios less than serious then its a pipe dream. Just wait until April 1st, as Toshiba and the remaining studios have something planned.

HD DVD won't be dead until either Paramount or Universal jump ship. When that happens I'll gladly admit it's dead. HD DVD is no more dead right now than CRT projection technology is. Ha, ha!

Isn't April 1st when Sony is releasing Blu-ray Profile 2.0 players for $150, lowering the MSRP of its studio titles on Blu-ray to $15, and giving $100 rebates to those who purchased Profile 1.0 and 1.1 players?

I think Warner is releasing the Matrix Trilogy on Blu-ray on April 1st, if I'm not mistaken. I also heard that New Line is releasing The Lord of the Rings extended versions on Blu-ray on April 1st too, complete with all the bells and whistles you'd expect on a HD DVD release.
