I recently picked up a 6PG+ and after removing the lens I found nice milky white tubes with no sign of wear. After getting a remote (Thanks Brooklyn), I fired it up and checked the hour meter. Hmmmm, says 57 minutes. After running it for about an hour and zeroing everything out it now says about 1 hr and 50 some minutes. So I know its running. Is the hour meter resetable or if not then this has almost no hours. That would be nice. This is my first NEC? Thanks for responses.

It would be nice. The pic looks nice and strong on the tube face.

Mr. Curt, the projector master, what do you think? Can the NEC hour meter be reset?

You can reset the PG hour meter so easily, your dog may have done it as he passed by the machine when you first brought it in...
Seriously, getting a PG WITH a number in the hour meter is more unusual than getting one without....

I'm glad that the remote is working out good for you. I don't know how to reset the hours on a PG, but I bet there is a way, since my 6PG has way less hours than the CRT's show.

Having the remote is great. When I first got this projector I didn't get the remote so I tried the PG software. Now, not being a newbie to projector's and/or software, that Nec software SUCKS!!!!!!!!. It causes issues that are not really there and is almost impossible to do a setup. Never again.

Please list those issues.

While I prefer the remote myself, it's just as possible to do the setup with the software (with the exception of point convergence). It's just not as convenient.

Well one of the main issues is when I attempted to do an edge focus, just clicking 1 or 2 digits, the image would distort drastically and the projector would shut down. My first thought was an issue with the unit but I did not feel comfortable looking for a problem that maybe be related to the software. After receiving the remote, sure enough, no problem. Edge focus works fine. Also I was not able to aquire good geometry with the software, even at maximun settings, but again, with the remote, no problem with near perfect geometry. Those are just the ones I can think of right now. I know there were more.

That happens when you set the PJ to Focus Edge Separate and don't have the Point Convergence board installed.
It has nothing to do with the software. It happens exactly the same way with the remote.
When set to Focus Edge All it will work with both the remote and the software, even without the Point Convergence board.

Geometry is no different between software and remote setup either. Both alter the exact same things with identical ranges.

Well I'm not sure what the difference between your projector and mine is but,
1. I have no point board.
2. edge separate and edge all with software caused shutdown.
3.edge separate and edge all work fine with remote. (Just reverified)
4.as I said I was unable to get good geometry with software, but no problem with remote.
5. I also remember I could not get it to phase properly.

If you have succeded with yours then there is something different between our projectors and I have also read of many other people haveing problems with the software, some couldn't even get it to work at all. This post was my experience only. Thanks for your response.
