The color temprature on my unit was set at white (6500K?), and the white areas of the screen appeared a little bit reddish to me. Is this OK? How should I properly set the the color temprature? Should I readjust the contrast and brightness if I set the color tempratute to a diffrent level?
BTW, there do not appear to be any wears on the blue and green tubes of my unit.
Thanks.

\Red push means Red Drive is too high, I have found most machine produce white with R-drive in the high 20's range. follow htese easy instructions
1)set Contrast to 50 and brightness to 50.
2) Now go into Utilities, pass-code 0901, color temp adjustment. choose 6500K then push the # key until you get the stairstep gray-scale pattern.
3) Raise or lower RED G2 until you can barely make out the darkest square from the second darkest, Set Red drive to 30.
4)Push Enter and do the same for BLUE , set drive to 50, then GREEN set drive to 90.
5) now push enter until to bring up red drive and the # key until the all-white test pattern comes up. Adjust red drive until the screen is white, not redish or bluish (usually around 27 to 30) - EXIT and save. You can adjust B + C up or down a little from here to suit your taste, but not more than 10% up or down either way or you will be losing your dynamic range.
6) now go back to color Temp. and choose zones. Adjust all the outer zones to 65 and the 2 center zones to 35. This will give much better brightness uniformity across the screen.

Thanks a lot, Dragamn. I did it per your instructions and the color is much much better now.
Regarding #6, What are the outer zones and center zones? When I tried, it started with left center zone, and then right center, upper center, lower center, then all four corners, then each corner individually. So which of those are center zones, outer zones?
Thanks.

I just want to point out that "Red Push" is usually used to refer to push in the color decoder, and not a reddish color temperature. In consumer forums where there are displays that have sh*tty (purposefully wrong!) color decoders that push red, adjusting red drive is NOT the correct fix.
This, however, IS a greyscale issue, and adjusting cuts and drives is the appropriate remedy.
I'm just attuned to this nitpick because it took a long long time to get novices with red push problems to STOP adjusting red drives in an attempt to fix their color decoding problems, and I wouldn't want the issue to get confused all over again!

I had seen you post these instructions before (on AVS maybe) and managed to remember everything but the zone adjustments. I adjusted the zones earlier tonight, and I'm loving the change! Now I'm glad that I dropped that $20 on this contrast modulation board for my 8111+. It may be a slight bit harder on my tubes, but hell, they're brand spankin' new, I'm only running Contrast at 45, and we only put maybe 6 hours a week on it.
Good tip, Draganm. We need to get you down here to Dallas sometime. If you ever manage to, I'm buyin'.
