Try following the links at http://www.cathodecorner.com/
IIRC I linked thru them to a number of nifty mono tube projects (check the round CRT digital clock.)

Frankly, I'd look on eBay. Find an old video camera, the type without the recorder built in. Circa 1981-1985 or so. Almost all of those used small tubes like that.

Hello! Friend!

In fact, now most professional camera use this 1.5inch monochrome CRT tube for viewfinder,such as SONY,JVC, Ikegami,Panasonic,Hitachi, Philips,Thomson ,Canon and so on, all these professional camera viewfinder use 1.5" CRT picture tube, and they sell the viewfiner too,such as VF15-45,VF15-46 etc,but the viewfinder unit price is not cheap; I only need the CRT part for design products, so for me the whole viewfinder is not the correct selection, unless the viewfinder is cheap.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
New...
I know some model about this tube,such as 40CB4(JVC), 40HB4(PANASONIC), M04KAX07WB(JVC), etc;and I also know the web www.partstore.com, it have these parts,but the price is not cheap,I need not only one, I need more than 500pcs ,so the price is one reason to choose.
Have you spent some time watching e-Bay? Over a year ago I auctioned a complete, working Sony video camera with lens and B+W viewfinder. I got less than $100. USD for it. It even had the original fitted case.
Guys, I think he's looking for OEM parts to manufacture a product design of some kind around... so second-hand, surplus, or take-offs aren't going to work for him to get any sort of numbers with.
sidneydisplay, have you tried getting in contact with one of the pro broadcast manufacturer's design engineers? I bet it wouldn't take too many calls to get to the right person - either someone in design engineering, or a tech in a repair depot. One of them might be able to tell you makes their OEM part for them.
What type of application are planning on using one of these in? Just curious - sounds interesting.
What about VDC (Video Display Corporation) where we can get tubes for our projectors, I think they make tubes that small and would also be a source for when the design goes into production.
maybe Panasonic/Matsushita 40CB4 tubes can still be ordered from this place:
http://www.ued.net/cgi-bin/perlfect/search/search.pl?mode=any&q=40cb4
They list quite a few different models from other manufacturers as well. Search for "CRT" or "Picture Tube" or "1.5""
also look here:
http://www.partstore.com/PartSearch.aspx?PartNumber=40cb4
And you should make a phone call to those places. I'm sure they will give you a better price if you order 500 of the tubes.
One tube is approx. $117-$130.
If you want to try a 40CB4 tube you could try this one for $5: http://www.surplusshed.com/pages/item/r2025p.html
