well, we came back from sea to find planet terror waiting for us, and enjoyed it so much that we ordered deathproof straightaway.
so deathproof turns up, and we settle down for some quentinism. in short however, it sucks!
so reminiscent of the whole kill bill thing again. one masterpiece, and one very stiff little clunker...

Yeah, Death Proof was not good. Fortunately, they released them separately. I'd love to see a HD release of Planet Terror. If you saw the fake preview of Machete, the response to that fake preview was so great that they are going to make the full movie! That should be interesting. It might be terrible or it might be great. It reminds me a little of Fistful of Yen, which is in the movie Kentucky Fried Movie.

how can you guys not like Death Proof. I'm guessing your young and weren't around when the classic muscle cars like the Nova, Charger, and Challenger were prowling american roads?
I thought Curt Russel played an excellent psycho too
"I forgot to mention one thing, this cars is only death proof for the driver" man that's got to be a cult classic movie line.

I get the feeling that you just spoiled the entire plot...

I'mp retty sure if it wasn't for the cards I wouldfeel differently about this movie. Having grown up with Steve Mcqueen in Bullit and Peter fonda in Dirty Mary Crazy Larry I just found myself liking Death Proof. First half hour was slow though, I think you get sick of those girls and find yourself unsympathetic to their fate.

don't get me wrong, i love car flicks, but deathproof feels like an exercise in ego stroking for quentin. look at me, i have cool cars and i can still do snappy dialogue...
planet terror is just more fun...

oh, and i couldn't stand the lap-dancer - her face looks like it is made from play-doh and someone has moved it out of shape...and her belly bulging over the hotpants - ick! i love hot pants, or no pants for that matter, but can't do fat chicks...

Planet Terror was awesome! I bought it a few weeks ago, while my in-laws were in town. On day while I was at work, they decided to watch it - not knowing what they were in for! that night they said that watched that "planet terror" movie I bought, and it was the most disgusting thing they had ever seen, how could anyone want to watch something like that.
Sounded like the good housekeeping seal of approval to me, so my wife and I fired it up a few nights ago. what a great flashback to the old "grindhouse" movies of my youth. I even remember the introduction screens and music for the 'coming attractions" bits, and the announcer had the feel for that era down pat!
I bought but have not watched "Death Proof" yet, can't wait to check it out, although I have heard other reviews that said it wasn't as good as planet terror...
