|
|
My XG135 has lost all of its memory settings twice in the last 4 months. Both times it happened after a power outage. Over this past weekend, there were several power outages here in Northern California, and the projector survived just fine. But last night, there as a 30 second or so outage, followed by another 1-2 second outage, and when the power came back on for good, the input list had been completely cleared again.
I'm not really looking forward to reconverging everything from scratch for the 2nd time in such a short period, but obviously I have no choice. I was wondering if this is a known problem with these projectors, or if it indicates that a board may be going bad. I've had the projector for many years now, and it is only recently that I've had this problem. Since it survived several outages recently, I'm guessing that it's the way that the power is coming back on (over-voltage?), that might be causing the problem. Due to the way that it's mounted, it would be difficult to install a UPS, but I might be able to mount a small surge suppressor if that would help.
The other issue I've lived with for quite a while is a drift in convergence. After letting the system warm up and getting the convergence nearly perfect, the convergence won't stay that way for very long. It's off enough that it bothers me, though the rest of the family doesn't really notice it. When I initially installed the PJ, I didn't have the drift problem, but the sources have changed quite a bit since then as well. I'm not sure if these two problems are related, or should be addressed separately.
Finally, is there any way to back up the convergence settings so it won't be so painful if I lose them again?

I thought that the 'NV' was for non-volatile. Is there really a battery in these projectors to preserve the memory settings? Also, the observation that in longer outages the memory settings were preserved led me to believe that an active process like a voltage spike is somehow clearing the memory, rather than it being lost when the circuits simply lose power.

Check your projector power circuit for earth ground to neutral voltage and also if the neutral is being shared with another circuit. Most of these system problems are power related esp in brown outs or when they fire the power grid back up.
Do you have anything plugged into the option port? I have seen the input list clearing happen before but pretty rare. Doug

I'll measure the ground to neutral voltage when I get home. I'm pretty sure that this is a dedicated circuit, or only shared with the screen motor, but it's been a while since I pulled it.
There is nothing plugged into my option port.
