My XG is being really moody in the mornings
It wont lock onto a signal and looks all scrambled but after warming up for around 15 minutes it works but the image wiggles from side to side for another 5 mins before it settles down.
Can you guys help please?
Cheers

Sounds like the system board. Reseat the Sys, Osc and D conv boards in the metal card cage. Also try reseating the MD cable connector on the deflection board. Doug

Hi Doug,
Thanks for your reply. Earlier on the PJ crapped out when I viewed a webpage with video. Interestingly enough if I clicked back it would be ok.
I've tried reseating the boards you mentioned and the MD connector and now all that happens is the red light on the deflection board flashes along with the green on the osc board. They alternately flash about 10 times then it tries to lock onto the signal and fails.
I'm running a pc, an xbox and an xbox 360 through an x2vga2. Interestingly enough the 360 seems to lock on a lot easier than the other sources but still craps out occasionally. Dont know if thats relevent but I though I'd better mention it.
I dont suppose the system board from a 9pgxtra would be the same would it?
cheers

Go back over and check the MD connection and re seat the boards again. Also check the connectors on the system board. No the PG series system board wont work.
With video do you mean the video input or how are you running it? The same resolution? Doug

Hi doug,
The pc was running at 1024*768 and the xbox's were both running at 720p 50 or 60 hz all through an x2vga through the rgbhv
Although now the XG wont even lock onto the 360
I've reseated the md connection and the boards again.
Now its scrambled mess on all sources but the alternating flashing on the osc and deflection has stopped.
It makes a lot of clicking noises when trying to lock on to the 360

If the Osc green led is on solid it should be seeing the signal. Pick your most solid past setting and let it sit to see if it will lock up. Make sure the image is within the tube face. Press the end button to clear the on screen display, it will trigger the scramble.
Sounds like it is the system board. They will start to go out then get worse to no lock up. If you get it to lock up do a signal entry at the top of the signal entry list. See if that helps for now. Doug

Moral of the story
Always check the cables from the source properly, I'm an idiot
