Hi,
I'm new to the fan club and having problems all ready!
My recently purchased 1209s has suffered a fault.
Being a newbie i've had to take a crash course on the set-up and installation, while being guided by the seller and these forums.
I was half way or more in closing the rear cover for the main boards, after adjusting the pots for red and blue on the vertical board when suddenly the pj went mad with a clicking noise and the power going on and off before i could reach the main power switch.
What i can say at this stage is this: ( with focus/horiz/vert boards removed )
Pj partially starts up then shuts down. Tries again and then totally powers off.
G2 diagnostic board- 2 leds remain unlit :

HTHD - off
-17v - off (beside scan fail red led)

controller board:

stdby led : on
power cycles led : flashing
error led : on

with other 3 boards in:

HTHD - off
-17v - off (beside scan fail)
scan fail - on
+conv overvoltage - on
remaining green leds on except +conv

We think it could be the smps. Will be sending in for testing. In the mean time, if anyone has any thoughts?

thanks

Check those yellow wires near rear cover, maybe one of those wires got stripped and caused short...

That would be the controller.

Ile Thumbs Up

Your spot on.
That was the first thing i did after it happened.
There is a small nick in one of the yellow wires that run out from the controller.
It's not cut through but you can see bare wire.
There should be conduit or similar covering those wires.
Bad design IMOP.

What do i do now?
It has obviously damaged something as it won't restart fully.

Tape that stripped wire and put cable spiral to that controller cable...

Measure all fuses in the smps with ohm meter, also those small soldered output fuses.

Probably one of those are burned and maybe also main fuse.

FANTASTIC NEWS! Very Happy

Checked smps fuses and F201 was blown.

Got it fixed and replaced board into 1209s to-day.

Pj is now working fine!

Thumbs Up ILE , you have saved me so much time and MONEY!

*It's guys like you that make these forums*

Not all good news though.
The Blue tube now has speckles jumping all over it.
I took off the only Red cable going to the focus block when pj was not working.
The end of it looked corroded but when i put it back i wasn't sure how to connect it.
It was under the rubber boot covering the cable end and focus block 'pin'.
Not sure if it was touching or just close?

Any ideas?
