I have a Runco 900 and everytime I start a new disk or turn it on the picture is shifted to the left. I can move the picture back to the center and adjust the blanking. How do I save these settings?
Thanks

download the NEC PG6 manual from this page, read it, learn it know it, love it.
This are your projector, there are many like it but this one is yours.your projector is your best friend. It is your life. You must master it as you master your life.
If you should find yourself reading the manual, and realize that the entire paragraph you have just read makes NO sense- you are normal.Continue to read. When you find that re-reading the same paragraph makes sense you are ready.
The section you want is " signal entry"
..around pg 35

I have a Runco 900 here. Haven't delved into it's inner workes yet though. The setup remote is in hand and I took last week to print the manual all 135 pages on one of the slowest printers I've ever seen. The printer was free and the ink chap so I'm not complaining.
I think I'll go read page 35 now too.

Thanks, I had to set up another input and then was able to store the information.

Congratulations! did you create a new entry or copy an old one and modify it?
One of the really great things about the NEC projectors is the amount of adjustment you have. If you have not yet "played" with the astigmatism control or the edge focus you might see some drastic improvements by learning these features. Another thing to check before you spend a lot of time refining your setup is the "phase" this is often overlooked in initial setups and upsets the alignment and convergence work you have done when adjusted later.
Ideally if you are able to set the pj up in its final setup position (relative to the screen)all your work will not need to be redone, the setup procedure in the manual is very thorough but Curts is a pleasure to read.If you follow the ( entire) procedure you will be very impressed with the image you create.
How are your tubes? do you have any wear that you need to work around?
On a different note.. It looks like I will be dong a tube replacement on my PG as my green tube has just developed a black spot on the tube face, not sure what or why but will try to post a pic Later today.

I copied to another location and then it let me save the posistion and blanking. I know it needs to be adjusted better. It is hard to find the time and I don't want to make it worse. The last major set up was about 9 years ago. The tubes do have some burn but most of the burn is not visible in wide screen mode. I just picked up an HD Fury so I can use a blue ray player. Is there a way to adjust the frequency in the RGB setting? I see when I select video it shows a higher scan rate. The other problem is I have to run the blue ray direct and ca not use my pre amp. Any ideas?

Your projector detects the incoming signal Freq. and uses that information to asign the signal to a block,it will not modify the signal ( the difference you see between the video and rgb is a result of the difference in the signal composition)
The source device will provide the signal,so an upscaling DVD player may provide 6-10 discrete signals, each needing a seperate location, your BD player will show a higher signal but if you played back a SD DVD it might need a new location for the new (lower) signal.
With a Video processor or HTPC you have more adjustment and options but at the cost of $ and simplicity.
EDIT: I do not know enough about BD audio output option to comment, try the HDFury area of the forum or the Audio section,I am sure someone can help.

Lets see a digital do that !
I know you don't want to make it worse, but redoing the setup a few times can make it better too. Take your time though, don't rush it. My first set up went on for hours and hours (13-18? can't remember ). Now when I set up my Sony I can have a nice picture in an hour and then spend a little time of the next few movies doing the final tweaking.
The Runco 900's are a little more fidgety than the Sony 12xx series that's mainly why I wanted one. I look forward to learning all the in's and out's of these NEC's in black sheeps clothing.

What Jask is saying is that each source can have multi settings for output freqs.
HDSTB: Video settings can be native where it will be determined by the channel you are on. Some are native 720P and most are 1080I and commercials and SD can be 480P. You can uncheck the setting of native to force it to use one output freq and resolution. Sense most are 1080I I usually force this setting by just selecting 1080I output and not selecting 480P or 720P.
HD DVD and Bluray: This can be forced to select 1080I, 720P or 1080P+/24 depending on what you select and what player you have. On yours you should select 1080I or 720P. SD will use what you select also if using HDMI.
Now.... if you have two sources that are using 1080I and you need different settings that cant be shared (memory) you will need to do two signal entries for 1080I and select it from the signal entry list each time naming one HD 1080I and the other HD-DVD or BR 1080I.
The other way would be to run one 1080I and the other 720P and do a signal entry for each so it auto selects (multi-syncs) to the right output freq that the source is running. Doug
60Hz:
1080I is 33 kHz
720P is 45 kHz
480P is 31.75 kHz

Doug
I assume this is the bandwidth requirements for each resolution at 60Hz?

Its the horiz freq range (kHz) of the signal at 60 Hz. 60 Hz being vertical or refresh rate. The 6PG based units are good to 61 kHz and 1280X1024 spec but can be pushed past the 70 Mhz bandwidth spec. They do 1080I and 720P just fine. Doug
(If you increase Hz rate the (kHz) horiz freq goes up)

So if I am getting this correct, the projector will assign a scan rate? But I will need to set up different inputs for each source? I know i have had it do 1080i using a blu-ray direct. Bill

OK - The title got my attention - Picture Shift.
I have this issue with my Barco 808.
I just completely finished adjusting focus, geometry, convergence and I had the perfect picture. I turned my projector off and powered if back on the day after and then the picture has shifted by about 2 inches to the left. Some of the geometry is slightly off and the blanking and H shifting is off as well.
I saw in this thread about saving settings, but where do I do that on a Barco? I thought that you could adjust settings for each frequencies on the PJ and it would stick automatically. I have a HTPC connected to it, so when it boots it is in 640x480 60Hz - I adjusted the PJ according to this and it is fine when it is booting, once it is booted up, it's in 1280 x 720 at 75hz and I adjusted the PJ also according to this. But the picture shifts after I am done with it.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks!

The source determines the scan rate. The projector will store if it is within spec of the projector.
Each source has different signal properties even at the same resolution. ie: 1080I the porches can be different as well as sync polarity.
This will affect H position of that particular source as well as other things. Best to do a new signal entry for each source and resolution. Doug
Dont know Barco, comment is NEC only, if it was a NEC you would need to let it boot up fully then do a signal entry and adjust to that and store.
