I currently have my 1272 mounted to the ceiling. I am using power strut to cross multiple beams, then i have the standard sony vph mount bolted to that, and of course the projector bolted to that. This allows me to slide the projector forwards or backwards easily.

What I am looking at doing is turning my entire theater so the strut will go parallel to the ceiling joists, instead of perpendicular. What I am wondering is how I should mount it to the ceiling.

I am going to need something that doesn't hang much lower, if any, than my current setup. It also can't be too hard to bolt into place. I am going to have some people just help me man handle it.

I am wondering if I should use what I currently have, and just add a piece of 3/4" plywood to the ceiling(across multiple joists), then mount the power strut to that. Or, if I should do as suggested here to just use power strut and some threaded rod. The power strut is about half the height of the sony mount.

I would think the second option could be closer to the ceiling, which is what i want. What do you guys think?

Thanks,

Travis
