I have a Moome Marquee VIM DVI card and am using it with an HDMI to DVI converter and 25 foot DVI to DVI cable,
and the source is a Sony BDP-S300 Blu-Ray player.

I had issues with my Blu-Ray player so I exchanged it for a new one today.

I was having several problems with it but one was that sometimes I'd get nothing from the Moome card but
a black picture. Sync was present, but no picture. And then, I could shut the system down completely for a while
and come back to it and I'd get a good picture.

I thought it might be the player.

But the new player, which I exchanged for, though it's definitely not suffering from the OTHER problems that the first
one had, also does the same thing. On first start-up from a cold condition, I got a picture. I shut the system down
and came back to it a few hours later and couldn't get a picture. Restarts didn't help.

The HDMI indicator on the player is lit, meaning there's a good link between the card and the player.

Any hints on what might be going on here? Nothing was touched (in terms of cables or components) between
the time I got a picture and the time I don't have a picture. The system was shut down for a couple of hours,
that's all.

It's frustrating to not be able to see the HD picture that I KNOW is there.

Are you turning on the projector or the player first ? Try both ways.

I'm still experimenting.

One thing that seems to be affecting the results is the mode the player is in when the PJ is turned on.

I've been under the impression that the Moome DVI input card is good up to 1080i, and that's the impression I've had
since I first got it.

BUT...it works FINE at 1080p.

However, it seems to like being fed 1080i FIRST, before switching to 1080p.

It doesn't seem to make a difference whether the player is turned on first or second. The Moome card seems to just want
to see a 1080i or lower signal FIRST, before going to 1080p.

But I'm still figuring it out.

I'm starting to think the Sony player is to blame. In the manual for it, it does say that if you have no picture via HDMI, you should cycle through the available output modes, and if that doesn't work, unplug the HDMI cable and plug it back in, and if that doesn't work, turn off the unit and restart it.

But I still need to know one thing: Is the Moome DVI input card designed to handle 1080P or is it NOT designed to handle 1080P?

And if it's not designed for 1080P, will it be damaged if you feed it 1080P?

It can handle 1080p just fine, just not above 60 hz.

Of course there are problems with 1080p, because not all crt's like the timings of the players 1080p output. So yes'it can work without problems, if you get it to work.
