Sup fellas!
A friend of a friend seems to have a Sony 1292 with no remote, laying around and wants to get rid of it. Assuming halfway decent tubes, any Ideas on how much I should offer the guy? He got the machine from a client as a leftover from a job, so I am hoping to get a good price.
Your thoughts on price, value, what to look for, or anything I may need to know about 1292's in general would be most excellent.
Thanks!

Well,
If he is a friend of a friend he isn't really a friend and you shouldn't feel bad lowballing him.
Offer him $25, if he won't take it point out how much it will cost him to dispose of it and then offer to take it for free.

Tube condition is critical.
Using this chart
http://www.curtpalme.com/TubeCondition_RatingChart.shtm
as a guide, here are my estimates...
If the worst tube looks like a "8"... value $2250-$2500
"7"... $1500-$2000
"6"... $1000-$1250
"5"... $750-$1000
The built-in remote should be sufficient to set it up, but you really want/need a wireless remote to get close to the screen during convergence. The wireless remote will cost $75-$100.

Dude, i'll do ya both a favor...
i'll drive by and pick it up and "recycle it ". It wont go in a land fill, it gets out of this guys house, and i dispose of it in a very environmentally friendly way
just make a donation for gas and we're even.
i had to try
