So I got my EXT box today. It does have the left shift problem experienced by every other box out there and Mitsu TV's, but I was half way expecting that.

Worse is the flashing bands of black bars and color problems when movement is on the picture. I had experienced the same thing with a cheap Ebay converter box, but had chalked that up to being a cheap Ebay box. After reading over some threads here it appears it's the same problem some people have using the HDFury with a Mitsu TV. Or Darcy Hunter and his Pioneer set:

Quote:

Unfortunately, i have yet to find a solution to the problem I was having. My problem wasn't a sync issue, or a rolling black line, but rather a problem with unstable black levels when the Fury was receiving a 1080i signal (no problem with a 480p signal). When I set any source to output 1080i, I get blacks that seem to crush and "flicker" depending on the action on screen. The detail level and colour are outstanding, and I have no issues with sync, but the problems with blacks makes most things un-watchable. I have heard it has something to do with a CLP or Clamp Pulse Level, but my Pioneer set's service menu is notoriously difficult to navigate even with a manual so I don't want to blindly lurk around in there. Plus, even if I could locate it, there is no guarantee that this will solve the problem. There was a thread about this on the Home Theater Spot forum under the Mitsubishi owners sub-forum, but I don't have the link right now.

Same deal with me, 480i/p is fine, 1080i causes issues with every source direct or going through my pre-amp. Several people mention changing the CLP, but no one has offered a description of where one might change that.

If I can change it and fix the issue with the Moome box, I might as well go with the HDFury since I have to get a RTC2200 anyway to fix the left shift anyway.

Even the Box1080 that Kal had posted might work for the Mitsu's (as it's component out) isn't an option since there's no HDCP compliant one any more.

Any advise?

Thanks,

Kevin D.

I know it's a holiday weekend, but no one has a tip for changing CLP? I've got a service manual, but nothing similar to that is popping out at me.

Depending on your model of Mits, the CLP service menu item may be locked out. If this is the case, you may have to find one of the special service remotes Mits made for them or reprogram the set using the I2C interface/software. If this isn't your cup of tea, you might find a Mits-knowledgeable tech or calibrator who can do it for you. See the Home Theater Spot website for more info.

Thanks, I've posted a topic over at HTS. I've got an I2C cable from fixing the red push issue so I should be fine if someone over there knows what to change.

If you have a V17 chassis (XXX07), Kwik-Fix has the CLP setting easily accessible.
