Well actually I will be in Lansdowne , Virginia for 2 weeks starting December 2nd through the 14th and I would love to see another CRT setup . I live in Alaska and since I don't leave the state very often without the wife , I was just checking to see if there was anybody close that wouldn't mind a bit of company for an hour or two . Or if anyone knows of a open meet in the area ?

Also let me know when you'll be in this area. I would like to meet you at Williams when you check out that Blend setup.
You'll get to watch HDTV on a 14' wide screen, and I can't began to explain the image that's shot on that screen.
Brightness, Sharpness, Detail, Colors, Naturalness and Depth. Just to name a few things this setup does extremely well. And that's all before I'm even finished with it.
last Springs meet, when I had first experience with the 8022 (Blend processor), If you asked me then what I thought of it, I would have said it was overkill, or maybe too complex to understand. But after spending some time with it over the summer and after that last meet. My thoughts today is that other than being able to get high quality HDMI sources (Moome) to CRT, it's the greatest video device I've seen today for getting the best Image possible from CRT. We may have the bugs worked out of the HD-SDI converter by then, and if so. You'll really in for a treat. And if not, even with it's minor problem, you'll still get to see what this combo does with HDTV projected on a 12 wide screen.
The 8022 allows you to calibrate and set it to broadcast standards. Therefore with a scope and the proper test patterns, the unit can be calibrated for EXACT image references. Which is something way beyond anything I've seen today in HT. usually we calibrate the projector and a few other adjustments in the processor. but with the 8022 in the signal chain, you can perform a perfect gain structure alignment for studio/broadcast grade image quality, and that would make the pre-display calibration the most accurate possible.
A screenshot of a scene from Casino Royal. My camera is not that good, but I believe it did OK showing the sharpness, colors and fine detail in the backgrounds on this very large screen. And the setup is still basic at best, and nowhere near where we intend to take it:

Hey Mike, did William upgrade his screen from 12'?
Also, I'll be in the US Feb 2008, will be dropping in at Cliff's and Art's, it would be great to see how far you and William have gone on the blend.

Geez;
You boys have been busy. I go into the CRT lab for a few hours of testing, and when I come out, the whole world is coming to visit.
Adrian;
You are most welcome to come by the house, at least once, and view what Mike and I (with the help of just about the whole Blend and Stack community) have created. Its alive...........its alive...........
Just PM me, and I will reply with my address and phone number. Landsdowne is about 20 minutes from the house.
Gino;
Looks like we'll have to have all the usual suspects over in February for a status check on the progress.
Yesterday I verified that both 720P/60 and 1080i/60 look fabulous through the Moome DVI/DVI Repeater, then converted to HD-SDI by the Convergent Design HD-Connect MI. I've started a DVI/DVI Repeater review thread in Moome's section of this website. Today or tomorrow, I intend to further test 1080P/24. We have a major vertical motion tearing problem when using the Sony BDP-S301 as a source, at this resolution and refresh rate. I will try the Sony some more, and also the HTPC, trying 720P/60, 1080i/60, and 1080P/24 on both, to isolate what source/resolution/vertical refresh rates cause the problem, before talking to Convergent Design about it. Bottom line is that my worst source (the ATSC tuner) looks unbelievable on HD-SDI. Can't wait to see what my best sources will look like.
And, no, the screen is still 12 feet wide. I could actually fit a 14 foot wide screen in the room, but didn't want to push it. Maybe by the time you arrive, the motorized 2 way masking system will be in place.
Cliff;
Maybe we could have a series of Mini-Meets, at your place, at Art's place, and at my place in Februray, centered around Gino's visit. (I call it Mini-Meet.) Compare and contrast everyone's efforts. It being February, we could have another CRT fireside chat at my place on Friday night. I'll be sure to invite Clarence, so he can take some more ridiculously-low-light-level pictures with his bitchin new camera. The seeing ought to be fantastic.
Tim;
You really really ought to try to make some of this, to see the heights we've taken your baby to!!!
Curt;
You really really ought to try to make some of this, to see what you should be aspiring to!!!
William
PS: Happy Thanksgiving to all of you who celebrate it. To the rest, Happy Whatever!

Thank You William I am already getting excited about my trip ! BTW Do you like Alaska Red King Crab ? Or Halibut ? I can get Crab legs almost the size of your arm . Or if you rather have 3" thick halibut steaks or both just let me know . I also plan to go to the Skins/Bears game on Thursday , I am a life long Skins fan . And if anyone ever gets to Anchorage they are most welcome in my home , Granted I only have a 8500w/Moome HDMI / Bluray/HD-DVD , but it gets the job done .

Dear Analog Rocks;
Middleburg is much better than Middle Earth. As Don Wallace puts it "Do they have electricity in Middleburg yet?" With no electricity (and no electricity bills) the Astronomical seeing is fabulous. Just ask Clarence. Love them blacks inside and outside the Home Theater. And, as you correctly point out, we have much much better picture quality, and it is improving by the day at this point in time. Remember, wherever you are, its blacker in Middleburg.
Dear Fujifrontier;
I travel to San Antonio all the time. I would love to get together with you on one of my upcoming trips there, and see your Home Theater, discuss the merits of Blu-ray versus HD DVD, argue whether HDMI or HD-SDI provides a better picture quality, look down our noses at the digitals and empathize with the masses subject to them (the digitals), etc.
Dear Cilffster;
You wanna take the lead in setting up the February activities, or would you like me to? I can see Jason and I driving up from St. Louis, first to your place, then to Art's, then maybe flying back to dark Middleburg.
Dear Adrian;
Can't wait to see you, bud. You will be welcome to come over how ever many times you want to make the 20 minute drive. I assume you will have a car. If not, let me know, and I will drive over to Landsdowne and pick you up.
William

I just tested my beer battered deep fried halibut recipe OMG !!! I can't wait to let you taste this . BTW the only way to get it right is to use Alaska Amber .
I noticed at the last meet you had everyone bring their favorite Mexican beer , I can't partake of any (allergic =SAD ) but I will bring a Alaska Amber that people up here seem to brag about all the time .

Cool, but don't leave out the crab legs..
I'm a seafood lover, and Halibut is one of my favorites, especially when someone can do something special with it. But crab legs are my favorite.
This system is months away from being finished. But even now it's a sight to see.
We had decided some time back to not just finish the system, but to take our time make this without a doubt one of the best systems period. And that's why we're still spending so much time on it.
At present we have William learning and getting familiar with his new colorimeter. He will also be learning how to treat and maintain the entire system himself. So while we're still working on getting the best image possible, William will be learning how to maintain his own system. I'll be available for the hard stuff only.
Hopefully by the time you get there we'll have the scope connected to the system, which will make for precise level adjustments in the 8022, to name a few things that the scope would bring to making this system a very fine tuned setup.
So while you're there, you'll get to see a really great HT system in action and in the process of becoming one of th best..

Not to worry there shall be plenty of Crab for all . I happen to notice that William doesn't have a HD source listed under his equiptment and I am bringing my PS3 anyway so , should I bring it with me ? I have a ton of Bluray and HD-DVD's that I will have also . I guess I could even bring the A-35 if he doesn't already have a HD player , just let me know .

Hahaha. I don't have a theatre..... yet. But you're welcome to help me set mine up I have a VPH-1020Q on its way, pretty soon and BTW, none of the DVD players around here cost more than $100 So you'd probaly laugh at what I got.
I don't know 'nothin 'bout HDMI/HDSDI, etc (I'm still in the stone ages with composite video ), but i would love to listen.
