|
|
I am looking to do a step by step upgrade to my home theatre. It is currently HD Satelitte/DVD + Faroudja NRS processor + Runco 920 projector, and I want to add HD-DVD/BluRay.
I cannot afford to replace the projector just yet, so I thought I would start with a DVDO VP50 Pro and a HD-DVD & BluRay player feeding into my existing projector.
The projector currently runs 800x600 for DVD and 1080i for HD-TV. 1080i HD-TV looks great.
Questions,
* should I run at 1080i with HD-DVD/BluRay, or should I try 720P...any views on what would look best ?
* will the Runco (Barco 708) actually run at 720P ? anyone tried it ?
Thanks

Most people (myself included) will tell you to run 1080i for Blu-ray/HD-DVD because (1) it'll look a lot better (since you're displaying all 1080 lines from the source instead of only 720, and (2) it's a lot easier on the projector which means less heat, better stability, etc.
If 1080i HDTV now looks great, Blu-ray and HD-DVD will look even better because of the better source quality.
