i got one of those fog machines on ebay and while i was playing around with the fogger playing a cool led zeppelin dvd... it looked like a lazer show with the PJ on... i noticed a bit of a hissing sound comming from the projector... i turned it off right away, let the room clear out before firing it up again. it seems to be going away now, it blue flickered slightly.. so needless to say i won't do that again. would it be ok to use the fogger in the same room as the PJ even if the PJ is off? i don't know if the fog would damage the PJ. i noticed there was glycol in the fog juice and glycol is corosive. i hope that there isn't any permanent damage to teh PJ.. it seems fine now. anybody care to comment or have any suggestions?

most electronics get pissed when exposed to high levels of moisture/glycol they tend to hiss, sizzle, and pop. (your projector need to dry out)

led zep, fog show, I like the way you think Thumbs Up

Not a good idea to have the fogger in the room, no. Moisture as others have said will play havoc with the projector.

never tried acid unfortunately Razz wise guy lol.... yeah. i thought, hmm... these things are resiliant to smoke... so why would a fogger bother it? i didn't know it was actually moist fog. i never had one before. i think its ok though. i watched all of evan almighty and it looked spectacular. good learning experience.

I ran my Sony in the fog outside one night. No arcing at all.
It looked really cool too. Sorry no pictures Sad
I did have it arc on a day with 100% humidity once though.

Run a dehumidifier in the room for 24 hrs if you own one or put a heater in the room and get it nice and toasty. The dehumidifier is probably the most efficent way. How long did you run the fogger anyway?

Perhaps pull the HDM and the FCM and give them a good cleaning to remove residual glycol to address the drifting focus??? Just a thought.

and i ran the fogger prob like a half hour? i have a heater though, i was running that, i think that actually helped. maybe i'll just do that.

Prolonged exposure to fog machine smoke destroys anything electronic. You do realise that it recondenses back to water/glycol liquid when cooled down again yes?

Back in the bad old days I used to service moving lights from nightclubs, usually it was a case of replacing all the corroded PCBs and you were back in business.

shine on.... you crazy, diamond!!!

I really doubt a half hour exposure is going to cause huge deposits of glycol, and running the heater for a day or two will dry out the water. fire it up after it dries out and listen for the snap crackle pop.

Live at Pompeii, is good even with the sound turned off!! might be a good one to watch while checking for arcing.
edit: or you could just wait till Tuesday for the 5.1 AC3 Song remains the same Thumbs Up

"fire it up after it dries out and listen for the snap crackle pop. " i guess i should have waited a day before using it... oh well... i've been using it anyway... it seems back to normal, fixed itself. so it was prob just a lil agitated. there hasnt been any snap crackle pop either, just slight hissing. just something i noticed... nothing what some were talking about...

anywho... 5.1 Song remains the same would be awesome! the one i have is just in prologic. might as well listen to it in stereo. i love the way films from the 70s look.. esp on this PJ... but the stage lights look amazing, and the trippy scenes. the color saturation is beautiful on this set, even with an imperfect blue tube.. big woop. i don't have Live at Pompeii... i have Pulse though, the sound is stunning though, it would have been awesome if it were filmed.. and in widescreen. do they have any shows from the 60s on dvd? or is that a dumb question? as a pink floyd fan i should know this i guess.. but i actually havent been listening to them lately.
