Maybe someone here will answer my question, I can't get an answer on the HKMOD threads:

I have an hdmi to dvi cable that is slightly longer (10ft) that I would like to use. It has fewer pins than the cable that came with the hdfury, it is missing four pins in the center. Will this cable work?

I'm not going try it before I get some sound advice from someone that has done it already.... I'm not going to burn up a brand new HDFury or a brand new HD-A2.

Here ya go...more than you ever wanted to know about the different flavors of DVI.

Keep in mind tho that the Fury won't drive cables longer than what is included with it. This was just discussed in a thread the other day along with the workaround.

The missing pins are for a dual-link DVI/HDMI cable. They are not needed on a single-link cable and even if they were there, there would be no conductors attached to them.

See www.bluejeanscable.com for lots of information.

I'm using the same cable to the pj from the fury (6" long rgbhv), and the cable I need to use from the HD-A2 to the fury is a few feet longer than the one that came with it. I am using the extra power supply so according to all the info from them it is not an issue of cable length. The issue is with the dvi connector. The original has six more pins than the one I want to use. they are the ones in the center of the connector. (data link 2, pins 4,5,12,13,20,21) I'm guessing that the fury does not use those pins since there has been no mention of this in anything I have found on here and AVS.

I believe the pins that are in the cross pattern on one end are for analog. HD Fury ain't going to care about those. This may not be what you're asking about but just in case.

I'm using 15' HDMI cables from the HD DVD and PS3 players into an HDMI switcher across another 15' digital cable (HDMI-to-DVI) into the HDfury, which then transmits across a 17' custom made RGBhv cable to the projector. I am using the supplied power supply and have no problems.

HDMI and HDMI-2-DVI cables cost me $7, the switcher $45, and both from Monoprice.com. The custom RGBhv cable Terry (Chuchuf) made me.

Okay, so cable length is not a problem for wanman.... however the topic is the pins on the hd fury's dvi connector.
Does the fury use the six pins in the center of the connector?

This already answered your last question. The pins are not needed for the HD Fury
