Took about five months but I finally finished the seating in the theater. 8) 8) It was more involved than I thought. Carpeting was tough...didn't know you couldn't bend Berber easily. The counter was all made from scratch...2x4's w/ oak paneling stained like mahogany...underlaid with drywall and stuffed w/ insulation...solid. Under-counter lights are dimmable! Risers are stuffed full of insulation for dampening. Prewired for Buttkickers. Rock & Roll!
That's an actual screen shot but I had to drop it in to get the exposure...

A question. The frames with the rounded tops that are mounted on the walls. Are they to mount posters to or just decoration?

Thanks for all the kind comments all around. I appreciate the sentiments. Most people that come over think it's cool however, very few realize what it takes to build it all from scratch. The DIY crowd is getting smaller by the months. I know I can count on this group for encouraging words.

Those are actually sound treatments as zaphod correctly noted. The construction details can be found in my photo album. They are cloth covered insulation panels that are spaced off the wall about 1/2" and sealed to the wall with silicone. Big dampening "drum lids" basically. The lower part of the wall is covered in carpet for add'l acoustics.
Incidentally, I do also have poster-mounting panels going up the stairs. You can find details on those as well in the album. Please feel free to ask any questions as I would be happy to reply with whatever I may be able to help with. Goodness knows this forum has helped me enough! 8) 8)

I've thought about it. I do have a way to vent. I'm just leary about overheating...plus up until now I bet I've opened that case up at least a million times tweaking and poking around.  But, being pretty well done with that I suppose you've given me a good reason to start a new project in the man-cave. 8) If the wife complains can I say it was kal's idea?

There are many mega buck theaters out there that are obviously check book specials. This has to be the very best DIY that I have ever seen! Your design is classic, and is applicable to any number of real world homes. BRAVO! For a theater like this even I would ceiling mount!

Believe me, there were many goof ups along the way. 
Before undertaking anything new I always added up what it was going to cost and then agreed I wasn't going to go to pieces if the entire thing had to be thrown away (I also NEVER told my wife what I spent!). That was the only way I could get through it.
