I worked at Dallas Semi back in the early days, when the original DS1235 was
made. We
found that, given the currents involved and the amount of energy in the
lithium batteries
used, that the battery backup would last far more than 10 years. But no one
would have
believed a datasheet that said 40 year life, so we used a more sedate 10
year spec.

Unless you've been storing the scope in some sort of hostile environment you
can expect
the memory to last much longer than your interest in using the gear...
