Has anyone heard of this??

Xbox HD-DVD add-on $179+tax
Heroes Season 1 box set - free
Matrix Ultimate box set - free
Planet Earth box set - free
5 mail in rebate HD-DVD's - free
King Kong w/add-on - free

This deal is ridiculous. The two box sets besides Heroes is not supposed to work but it is working for some reason in BB's system. I am going first thing after work tomorrow to test this out. I would suggest everyone does.

I have not seen this deal anywhere near me. In fact, the only recent deal I've seen is Heros season 1 with the drive.

How's this supposed to work? You just collect all those box sets in the store and bring it to the register, and it rings up as free??

EDIT: link to another thread about this:

Slick deals is reporting that this deal has changed.

It's 2 HD-Dvd titles under 34.99.

Those who got the box sets got a steal!

And in the process artificially altered the numbers in the format war. Sneaky, but smart move by M$ with only 59 days until Christmas.

Man I hope Sony responds in kind...either now or just prior to Christmas. I want to snipe a cheap deal PS3 from under the noses of the giants while they're duking it out. Twisted Evil

Come on don't make this a Blu-ray vs HD-DVD thing!

I can confirm that I got a steal of a deal!!! It worked. I feel so giddy. I got the following:

Xbox Add-on : Retail $179
Heroes: Retail $99.99
Matrix Ultimate Edition: Retail $89.99
Planet Earth: Retail $79.99
5 free Movies by mail: Retail $15x5 - $75
Total Retail: $523.97 + tax
Actual Price to me: $179 + tax

Don't walk boys, run and get this insane deal. If you don't believe me I can provide photo evidence!

However, I am also hoping to get an equally insane deal on blu-ray equipment eventually Thumbs Up .

Wow. I WOULD go get this, even given my format-war aversion. But I'm out of the country for another week. I'm sure it'll be gone by next Saturday... Sad

I think this varies, store-to-store...

at about 8:55pm I checked out with the Xbox drive, Heroes, Matrix Ultimate, and Planet Earth for $188. Cashier looked like a highschooler and didn't blink an eye. This was at the Best Buy in Reston, VA - I didn't confirm, but they said they had a few more copies of Heroes, which is necessary for the whole promotion to go through.
