Thought I'd share this with the techies here. One of the bitches that I've had with regular meter leads like the Fluke and others is that they aren't sometimes sharp enough to puncture the oxidation layer of an old solder joint. IN addition, the tips are usually pretty thick, and it's impossible to measure an SMT IC lead without shorting 2 together.

About 8 years ago I inherited a pair of very thin, super sharp and retractable meter leads from another shop that went under. You could extend or retract the metal part of the lead into the plastic probe body by loosening the front part of the probe, and adjusting the metal length.

Well after daily use of 8 years, not to mention the guy that used these before me, they fell apart. Short of my Craftsmen screwdrivers, this was my favorite thing to use in the shop. (new g/f excluded!).

Anyways, I tracked them down. These are Huntron leads that come with the Tracker units. You can buy the meter leads separately. At $25, they are not cheap, but they came in yesterday, and I'm sooo excited. <geek!>

Anyways, if anyone wants a kickass pair of leads, here ya go:

THe 10s. I don' t think there's a difference other than the right angle leads. Also, there was no $50 minimum when I ordered last week, but 2 pairs wouldn't be a bad thing..Smile

Those tips can puncture your fingers, beware..Smile

Hey Doug,

Want to split an order? I could use a new set of leads myself.
