I have removed the lens from a Barco 1209 to view the tube wear. They look to be in great shape with no visible wear. I am curious if I am really seeing everything as I am viewing through the glycol in front of the tubes. Does this tend to hide the wear area? Is there a better method to view the tubes without tearing the pj apart?
Thanks
Dan

Glycol hide very light wear, so tubes are about 9 if you can't see nothing.

Who cares, Dan? After all, you SUCK!
(BTW, if you decide to part out one of the VS-1281's, please let me know. A friend of mine has one in very good shape but it stopped working after he had a power outage).

There is a good chance that I will be parting out one of the 1271's. When I did my quick power up, one of the units only had the blue tube come on. I am going to be concentrating of getting the 1209 going as the Barco 808 has power issues and toasty tubes and the Ampro 4300 has toasty tubes as well. I can hopefully either barter or sell enough parts off of these units along with the Mitsubishis to get the 1209 going as it appears to have good tubes.
Thanks
Dan

Wear on a blue tube that's not visible to the naked eye under normal lighting CAN be made very visible if you illuminate the CRT face with
a blacklight. Even a UV LED will suffice.
It doesn't work on red or green, though.

Hello
Fire it up pointed at a screen; white field with max height, max width settings. Staring at phosphor does not tell the condition; burn can be hard to detect unless running.

CJ,
Why does this only work on the blue tube, or are you saying that it only works on the blue tube if the projector is color filtered
Thanks,
Erik
