Seems that there is not a dedicated section, so I'm posting here.

For my work I need to buy a device able to measure the light reflected from screens. I work in cinemas and I want a device that tells me how much light I'm projecting on the screen.

This device is not so cheap. I wonder if I can buy a more complete device with a color analyzer suitable for analyze reflected light (and perhaps even to calibrate an LCD monitor?) to use on my Home Theater and, in a near future, to calibrate Digital Projectors for cinemas.

Do you have any suggestions?

Ciao
Antonio

Some people swear by it

Hi Oliver

Check my previous message, I need something to measure the light on a screen, something like this one

http://www.sekonic.com/products/products.asp?ID=131

This is the one I'm going to buy. I wonder if someone of you can know a similar device able to measure the colors too.

Ciao

Sorry - from the title it looked like you were after a colorimeter, not a light meter. I don't personally know of an all in one device. AFAIK you need two seperate devices

Good luck

Its placed on the screen and turned around so the sensor is facing the CRT

Or you point it at the screen, making sure it doesn't see its shadow. This is preferred for several reasons: it includes the screen in the measurement (in case the screen causes any color changes), and it eliminates any concerns about where the sensor is looking. If the sensor has any degree of directionality, and it's pointed more at the blue or more at the red, that can dramatically affect your color temp reading. Reading off the screen avoids that.

Thanks Gary. That's a gem of information there.

Kind regards
