Hello all, this is my first post (though I've bothered Curt on the phone several times already). In an attempt to let him rest, I though I'd bug you all instead....
From a friend moving to Seoul, I bought a Barco Vision 700, Onkyo 747, and 96" screen for next to nothing....)probably what it's worth). Anyway, I'm very excited, as are my wife and kids..
Setup, however has proven to be more of a pain than I expected. At this point, I have the proj hung and wired, and the screen up. Now the setup is where the hangup seems to be.
I have begun going through the adjustments....
FOCUS: ok
ELECTRICAL FOCUS: ok
ALIGNMENT: need help. I finally figured out how to move the lenses around, and the red one is spot-on. The Blue one, however will not stay-put. I loosen it up, align it, and tighten it, and it moves down. Like ithe vertical adjustment is not really moving...may be "flexing" when I push up on it.. I'm going to take the upper shroud off to see if I can figure it out this evening.
RASTER SHIFT: What? Look into the lenses?
ADJUSTMENTS: Well I quickly went through these (not the best idea).. what I found was that the "hatch lines" that appear in order to do the bow/keystone/linearity adjustments don't actually fit where to image (from a movie) is. after getting the hatches lined up on the screen, I turned on Pearl Harbor, and it was 20% off the screen. huh? Should I make the gross adjustments while watching a movie, then do the bow/keystone, etc?
That's all for now.
Almost frustratedly yours,
Erin
