Hi guys, have any Sony owners changed out the HD-8 lens on the 12x with the 144/145's or would it be of any gain worthwhile? What kind of adapters would be needed?

Thanks.

I'm not sure if adapters are avalable, but you could try to find a set of pt-65 lenses that should have better focus than the HD-8'S

Yes it can be done. You need a set of lenses and Joust adaptors. They are available on this site from the front page link.

We talked about doing this but none of us ever did. I scored a mint set of PT-65 lenses and called it a day. Why not give it a try? You can always reuse the adaptors and lenses when you upgrade to another 8" AC projector latter on.

Oh I forgot to mention. You'll need the clear lenses as your projector already has the tinted glycol.

I didn't see enough additional sharpness with my M8500 to make it worth the hassle and expense of HD145's. I kept the lenses because of the color filtering, not the focus improvement. If my projector already had tinted glycol, I wouldn't bother with HD145's. But that's me.

If the sony uses or can use standard HD8s then my adapters should work in it.

I'd be very interested in seeing your results.
