Like a pimp w/ a bad coke habit, marvel comics puts another valued title out "on the street to make some cheese".

This time its Iron Man.

http://www.ironmanmovie.com/

I was never a fan of Iron man. Especially after his role in the Civil war and the death of Captain America. But marvel, in its lust for cash allowed iron man to be re written. This time Robert Downey jr plays Tony stark. If you are going to watch the trailer you should do it now cause im gonna spoil a bit....

Tony builds the first iron man suit while being held hostage by terrorists????? I swear just when i think the hollywood machine couldnt screw a story up worse... they prove me wrong. Sad

I loved Iron Man comics as a kid (3.5 decades ago) but you're right...they're just wrong trying to modernize and politicize the movie.
And...are they going to film it all at once with Downey in it...or will it be completed in 5 to 10 with good behavior.

I thought Marvel did a pretty good job with Spiderman 1 & 2 (haven't seen 3 yet), though I think Toby Maguire is a whiny little wimp even for the role of Peter Parker. But the movies overall worked well. I thought the X-Men movies were awesome. Hulk was so-so, Fantastic 4 was lame, sounds like Ghost Rider is a yawner too.

Even if they only hit 50%, those movies are gold mines. They raked in over $1B in ticket sales for the Spiderman movies, almost $600M for X-Men, and God only knows how much more in DVDs &etc. If I was them I'd be making more of 'em too.

hey it's worth watching just for the Black Sabbath soundtrack right? Very Happy I think it looks pretty cool, it's a Comic book story line so it doesn't have to be 100% believable. Sure it might not be as good as Spider man but if it's better than the Hulk I'll enjoy it. You guys forgot about a couple of other Marvel's that I thought were really good like Daredevil and "The Punisher" Thumbs Up

Spiderman 1 and 2 are weak adaptations of ASM 121, 122 mixing in the spiderman origin... weak should have been better

I cant bring myself to watch xmen. Ive seen bits and pieces. The story is so mismatched, the characters so garbled. "Days of future past " is a masterpiece of marvel comics. The movie hacked it to bits.

Hulk was doomed from the start when i saw the writing /producer team.

FF i knew was gonna be a joke when the cast Alba in the film. "No script needed, just show jess in tight outfits!"

Ghost rider was a weak comic, and the casting of nick cagr guaranteed a joke of a film. i.e. we gave him 20 mil, no budget for writing.

I know that they are goldmines. It just proves my point. Marvel isnt concerned about the integrity if the characters and writing. If you've got cash you can take one out and make some dough!

Yeah, if you were a hardcore fan of the comics, I can see even not liking the X-Men movies. But I am just a sucker for stories like that with all the different mutant abilities and the way they used them in the story. And there were some good moments -- I **LOVED** the "shocker" ending of Xmen 3, with Magneto at the chessboard. I thought that was brilliant.
