Ok, boys, I just know one of you will pounce on this: http://cgi.ebay.com/VDC-MARQUEE-9500-ULTRA-CRT-PROJECTOR-New-in-box_W0QQitemZ130150265527QQihZ003QQcategoryZ32862QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem.

A VDC MARQUEE 9500 ULTRA new in the box with free shipping to anywhere. Immediate payment required via Paypal. Couldn't be a scam, could it? What if it isn't (yeah, right)? Well, I'm not going to find out the hard way.

Funny. Whoever bought it has a private feedback profile. Could a scammer have been scammed by another scammer? We can only hope that happens all the time.

EDIT - Moose, look at our posts and the time. New olympic event... synchronized posting?

Hmmm,

I should have seen that before.

What looks like a scam here apart from the great price and the incorrect picture? Paypal is a good sign right? If it was wire transfer then ok.

If you look at the sellers' feedback, one of his past auctions was for some Mustang parts. The text in that auction is more descriptive, but is similarly "IM-style"... as in "y r u reading this?". Feedback was good, which local delivery. Interestingly, though the auction had the seller's phone number listed. I damn sure would have rung that number before I thought about bidding on the auction.

If you were local, you wouldn't have much to lose...save for maybe getting rolled or something when you went to pick it up.

Isn't this the easiest of scams to uncover? Just write the seller & ask where you can have someone physically inspect the item at hand. When you get the typical no response you have been told volumes.

It is when you get a response that things get interesting.

I offered to do a local pickup. And I asked for the serial number so I could ask my friends at VDC to look up the unit's
history. And I asked why his pictured unit didn't have the standard VDC covers on it?

His response:

Quote:
ALREADY BEEN SOLD, THE PIC WASNT OF THE ACTUAL. REMEMBER IT WAS NEW UNOPENED SO I GOT A PIC THAT WAS ALREADY ON LINE, BUT IT WOULDNT MATTER IF U ALREADY KNEW WHAT U WANTED AND THE PERSON I SOLD IT TOO DID PICK IT UP, HES JUST GONNA RESELL IT, I COULD GIVE U HIS NUMBER AND HE'LL PROBABLY SELL IT TO YOU IF U CALL HIM AND SAY I REFERRED YOU, JUST LET ME KNOW

What a 'tard. Confused

But at least this one is legitimate. And not likely to stay at its current price.
