Hi all,
I am looking to build the cable to connect my XG75 to a pc. I have the DB9 and DB15 connectors. I was wondering what I should use for the actual cable?
Anybody built one that can advise?
Thanks,
David

Doug,
I was thinking of buying a 15pin serial cable and cutting the connector off one end and splicing a 9pin connector on. Will that work?
Also, the diagram on Curts site shows a15pin male and 9pin female connector but my pj has a small 15pin female connector that is the same size as a 9pin. Is that an error on the diagram?
Thanks for your help,
David[/i]

You can try it that way but some cable pin outs are not straight through and have grounds terminated together. The 15 pin male is for the option port that is female on the projector. The 9 pin end is what gets connected to the PC's serial port and is female. The 9pin is male on the serial card. Its not a error. The 15 pin is the same size as the 9 pin but different pin count and pin out.
Make sure the 9 pin end is wired female. Check everything and make sure all pins pass to the right pin and are not terminated to anything else. Doug

Your DB9 connector won't do anything for you if you're looking to add VGA input for your XG. If you're just looking for a data cable, then I'm not sure what you need.
But again, if VGA output is what you're after, then Fry's has a 6' VGA to 5BNC 50ohm cable for about $17 I think. You really want 75ohm for best results though.

I thought this was for PC CONTROL only. If not then if you have a VGA 15 pin on the video card you would need a HD15 VGA to 5 BNC like CZ said but 75 ohm that would connect to the 5 BNCs on the input board A. Doug

Yup, pc control only.
The reason I want to do this is the pj shut down one night and lost all its settings so i want to be able to store them on my pc in case it happens again so I can just reload them from the pc.

Is this the same cable that serially controls the ISS switchers?
