just got the designer white sample in mail... i guess i was expecting a thin laminate, is this the right stuff? its about a half inch thick resin type material.

No, that says "13mm solid surface"... my guess is that's their Corian-type countertop material. The stuff you want is like Formica... it's about as thick as posterboard.

a sheet of that stuff might work too. I'd bet its a helluva lot more expensive though.

Designer White D354-60-117
D354 is the color code (Designer White)
-60 is the gloss/texture level (matte)
-117 is the thickness (-335 is the thin stuff... IMHO too flimsy... may ripple)

My local Menards (like a HD or Lowes, only smaller) had a sample board of all the Wilsonart laminate options that you could just take. I suppose HD and Lowes and anywhere you can buy Wilsonart laminates would have the same thing.
