There is a local guy selling a Zenith PVY4661DT rear projection tv for cheap due to a reported misconvergence that he doesn't want to pay to fix. I have been busting my ass trying to find some information on this model and have turned up nothing. I'm not expecting an HD-ready display or anything, but figure that this could still be a pretty good deal is all that's needed is some service menu work with the convergence controls.

I was hoping that someone here might have better luck at finding some info on that model (or even the series).

Curt, did you ever work on the rear projection units? I didn't know if Zeniths might be notorious for certain parts going out on them. I know that Dave's "aka Cine 8 Onyx" hasn't given him any fits, but I have a feeling that this tv is a few years older and has probably been ridden a bit harder.

Any help would be appreciated.

I won't know until I see pix, but a lot of these are based on teh PRO 851 sets. Take a look at the tips section and see if the convergence panel is the same as in his set. If so, I have lots.

Alot of these RPTV's including this one likes to eat the convergence ic's. I have replaced many of them. I believe on that tv they are ic4008 and ic4009 on the convergence board. They should be STK392-110's. Also check the 4 - 1ohm resistor's on same board. There is also a 5 amp pigtail fuse that feeds that circuit but is probably on the P/S board. Good luck.
