Hello,

My Barco Graphics 1208s malfunctioned yesterday. After half an hour use or so I heard faint *snap* and red tube begin to drive with full power on entire picture area. Today I tried to locate failure by swapping tube socket circuitboards and it appears to be place to seach further as the fault followed the circuit board when transferred to green tube.

Any advice to help locating malfunctioned component would be most welcome. On visual inspection I did not notice any burn components etc

Thanks!

Most probably it's one of those two VPA13 video packs, those big metal boxes connected to frame.

I`ll try to replace those amps. I was thinking ordering parts from Partco. Any other recommended sources in Finland?

That's only place where I have found VPA13 in Finland.

Surely as it is branded as such. It appears that red and blue boards may have been replaced at some point, but yet all amps are all the same as in green broad that carries serial indential with rest of the unit.

Got new amps in place, yet problem remains. Any ideas welcome! Has anyone extra tube socket circuitboards laying around unused?

Hi,

I don't really know the 1208, as i have a BG400. Try checking the G2 circuits if it has any.
I had a similar problem with my BG400 where all 3 tubes would get fully lit up every so often, then they stayed fully lit up after a while. I fixed it by replacing the Convergence board(which is analog and contains the G2 board)

I hope this helps.

Have a nice day

Brad

TV/Projector: All of them!

This is a board that you probably don't want to mess with. When the board is at full brightness, you stand the chance of spotburning the tubes, and I've nuked at least one tube by working on these complex video amps. You've got the expensive Sony tubes in that set that are hard to find in good used shape. I've got spare neck boards for relatively cheap, so I'd do that, and keep your two new chips as spares. I've rarely had the chips fail, and I haven't bothered repairing these neck boards so far as they don't fail often, and as I said, I've got spares.

Cheers!
