Hi,
my 808S died the set is dead not even the standby light is on. Thumbs Down
After checking the FAQ I found out that the F100 fuse of the SMPS blew.
I tryed a new one and it blew directly. So something is wrong with the SMPS I guess.
If I look at the structur of the smps I gues that the falt is on the lowvoltage side of the board I mean before the transformer.
When I checked the parts I notised that if I measure the resistance of Q100 and Q101 they differ. The Q100 doesn't show any resistance at all the Q 101 behaves different and in some currrent diretions it shows resistance.
My Question is is that normal or is Q100 defect.

The Board number is R7621706

It's pretty normal that Q100 fails, it have crappy retaining clip.
http://www.curtpalme.com/docs/Barco_FSB08_Failure_of_SMPU_R7621706.pdf

And also Q101 (+IC102) fails sometimes
http://www.curtpalme.com/docs/Barco_FSB04_SMPU_Capacitor_Upgrade.pdf
so chance also those 100uF caps to 105 degree at same time.

I chance all those four 100uF from primary circuit...

Don't know substitute, but BU2525's are still easily available even in europe.

Hi There,
I replaced the SMPS and the set powered up but I can't get a picture.
When the set powers up it doens't make the normal "HV is powering up"sound.
There are no red lights and everything looks good.
I checked the fuse of the EHT Board and it is fine.
I checked the 17V SMPS voltage and it is fine.
I checked all SMPS fuses and they are fine.
I reseated all boards but the convergenceboard.
If I look at CRTneckboards they are glowing so this is fine to
There is one more thing I noticed the Serial number of the Replacement is the same as the original SMPS R7621706 but on the new one is a sticker on the subboard with a different number R7621705S.

Any advise.
Is there any voltage of the SMPS that can cause this problem I could check these.
Any othere advise would be great.

Joerg

TV/Projector: All of them!

No.

Three possible problems:

1) SMPS
2) H Shift board
3) EHT board.

All have to be swapped out to check them more or less. Or send them my way.Smile

Hi There,

The BG808s Has a different model of power supply to the rest of the 808 range, including the BD808s !

Using a non S power supply will run the projector but the light output is wrong, like 10% of normal...Mine even had a strong red push when i tried it.

I did try and get my board repaired and it seemed a few of the resistors had blown, then the FET was replaced...IIRC the first time i just blew the fuse again, after the FET was replaced (and the resistors again) the PJ's diagnostic lights were on, but firing up blew it again. In the end i got a new (refurbished) PSU and things were fine.

Must some day look at getting the old PSU board fixed or something...

cya,
Lee
