Can you use the C Elements from a Sony VPH-1292Q in other 9" CRT projectors like a Sony VPH-G90?

Yes, all HD-10 family lenses shares the same C-elements.
It is known that the green C-element Sony used in their 9" crt's, were light green color (to win some light output from the green tube).
To have an accurate color calibration, you want the darker green version of the green C-element.

To my knowledge only the Sony G90 had the light green C Element.

The G70 and 1292Q had the normal dark green C Element. However I could be wrong about the 1292Q.

If you switch from light to dark C element, you'll need to recalibrate. I never had an LC projector, but I experimented with colored gels on the front of the lens. The darker gel gave the correct colors, but only after recalibrating.

This is true, you always have to recalibrate when making a change to the color filtering. That isn't a hard task if you already have the equipment and software.

garyfritz what color gels did you try? I'm interested in checking them out
