Hello all, I recently acquired a VPH-1271Q and have been on the hunt for an IFB-12 card to rock with the rest of my 240p/480i component video retro gaming hardware without the need for scalers or converters. I was able to track one down on Yahoo! Auctions Japan and the card arrived today. However, I'm having an issue getting the image out correctly. Everything displays in B&W, regardless of the settings on the jumpers or DIP switches. I followed the service manual instructions and set jumper 2 to off and the rest on for a 480i component input. The page menu shows "B&W Y/C" under "Input Signal." I attempted both inputs A and B with no change. The OSD, RGB input card and S-Video cards work just fine with all three guns in full color. Does anyone have any ideas on what settings to adjust or other steps to try? Is there any other adjustment procedure to get the settings to "take" besides power cycling the entire unit? Thank you in advance!

I know you really want this card but if you can't find one I would recommend you look for a Extron CVC200 or similar which I have linked below. I used these in the late 1990's and early 2000s all the time for customers that needed to convert all component to RGB for this era of projectors and it does a proper job for all resolutions. The search for a working input card could take a long time so I would get a work around while your search continues at least.
Also, if it is in B&W I suspect the component conversion as a whole is not working. You can confirm this by removing the red and blue. I suspect you will find that the picture does not change when you do this as green is luminesce.

Thank you for the reply. I have looked all over for a CVCX00 for awhile and they are impossible to find. I struck gold finding this IFB-12 and I'm so close to getting it to work! My goal is to get an interlaced component video input directly on the projector so I can retain the ability to adjust color, hue, etc. and work without fiddling.

I have a variety of other devices (Folsom scan converter, JJ Tech Component -> RGB transcoder, etc.) but they all need the RGBHV card which limits adjustments and have their own quirks. This will also streamline my wiring needs and offer more options for future projects.

I dug around and found some threads here and on AVSForum that state this card may not work in a 1271. But it's somewhat conflicting. The research continues!

Hey. Check this out and ony $50. This might be what you need. I am not sure if you need the special remote cable though which might be hard to find. I forgot this device existed for the sony 12xx series. Also I want to say NEC made a switcher that also converts component to RGB I think the model was ISS?

Success! After much more research and probably a hundred tabs I found an ancient thread on AVS Forum from December 2004. Twenty+ years later and still solving mysteries! I followed the directions from this thread:

https://www.avsforum.com/threads/sony-ifb-12a-input-card.478185/?post_id=4762529&nested_view=1&sortby=oldest#post-4762529

Which on a Sony IFB-12 is the following configuration on the rear DIP switch panel:

DIP 1 OFF
DIP 2 ON
DIP 3 ON
DIP 4 OFF
DIP 5 OFF
DIP 6 OFF

And the following jumpers on the face of the PCB:

JP3 VIDEO (default: SYNC)
JP4 VIDEO (default: SYNC)
JP5 GS (default: HD)

All other jumpers are at the default settings. This produces a stunning component video YPbPr picture and input capability with full color saturation and hue controls on a Sony VPH-1271Q and likely other 12XX series projos. The bonus is that these settings also enable progressive scan and HD resolutions over component video!

The quirk is that the input signal type is labelled as "IDTV" in the Page menu. But it correctly shows 15khz scan rate for 240p/480i sources.
