The best center channel is one that is identical to the L and R speakers. This usually means an acoustically transparent screen however.
I suggest you listen to some and see what you like as there's lots of variation. Also depends on the rest of the setup / what you plan on powering it with / room size / what your L and R speakers are. You have to consider all as you can't separate and ask for suggestions about one item at a time as you may not end up with something that works well together. It's like asking "what do you recommend for tires?" without stating what car you drive or how you drive it (road, track, off-roading, etc).

I use an EAW PA rig behind my perforated screen. As Kal says, my LCR are identical 12" 2 ways, each powered with 160 watts. Subs are 2- 2 x 15 matched EAW cabinets.
I got the system more or less for free, it came out of a (rumored) Hells Angel's owned tiny pub, where every night there were noise complaints due to the PA rig. Apparently there was a beef going on between the HA and someone else, as one Saturday night at closing, a window got smashed and a fake hand grenade got tossed through the window, with a note attached 'The next one is real'.
The pub instantly closed, and the new owner had to go in front of city council to plead the case that he'd pull the PA rig out, and would turn it into a regular pub. Since the new owner had a good track record of doing this, he got the approval, and hired me to sell the PA system.
I was new to ebay at the time, and sold everything but the speakers. I got those as commission for selling the rest of the stuff.
Before you critique a PA rig in a home theater, it sounds very natural, and I used the setup mic with the Onkyo to do the delays and eq.
