Hello, Iīm trying to calibrate a Marquee 9500 LC using Lumagen Radiance XS with Spectracal Calman. I following the Grayscale for dummies and start with HCFR for initial setups. After that I continue with Spectracal and have tried different workflows. I really liked what the Color Cube (3D LUT) workflow did to the bright colors but the dark colors looked awful. So I reset everything and and tried the Home Advanced workflow and the dark colors looked natural, but the bright colors wasnīt as good as it was with the Color Cube (3D LUT) workflow. So my question, if I do a Color Cube (3D LUT) workflow over the Home Advanced workflow, will the dark colors remain as they are now or will the Color Cube (3D LUT) workflow mess them up. Buy the way Iīm using Autocal for the calibration when using Spectracal.

Thanks

Hi!

Have you tried contacted SpectraCal/Calman for assistance? They were sold to Portrait displays years ago so not sure how support works now for them now or if they offer any. Unfortunately we can't offer assistance on their products anymore. Someone else may chime in however.

The long winded history as to why I refuse to support them or offer help in case anyone wants the saga: We used to carry SpectraCal products a long time ago. In 2010 I told them we were also going to bring on ChromaPure (a new competitor) and they threatened to pull their products if we sold anything that competed with them. I told them it seemed the right thing to offer customers a choice and we didn't have a non-compete clause so it was in my right to do so (I wasn't breaking any agreements with them). They could of course also refuse to sell to use too which is in the right. They pushed back stating that if I brought ChromaPure onboard they would stop selling through CurtPalme.com. I told them "fine" and I removed all of their SpectraCal products and brought in ChromaPure. Two days later they retracted their statement and wanted all their products brought back and said they'd allow us to sell their products together with competitors. I wasn't impressed with this bullying / lack of morals so I never did bring them back on here. Then when people in various forums started asking why CurtPalme.com dropped them they posted that they dropped us instead of the other way around. </end rant> Wink

I wish you luck with your calibration!

Kal

I didnīt know about the history. No problem I understand why you canīt offer any assistance on their products.

Hopefully someone else can guide me through my question.

Thanks
