|
|
I am owning a Barco 708 for over 10 years now, but for the last 8 years I have not been using it because my own apartment did not have the space for it. So it was waiting to be used again for a long time... Now I am owning a 'real' house so have my man-cave and enough space for the Barco!
I had everything ready and started up the Barco. At startup there were no strange noises so all seemed ok. I had everything nicely connected, but got no image... there are no LEDs burning that besides the normal LEDs (at the front). The Green and Red tubes are showing the usual startup screen. Also blue seems to be working when showing the grid.
The Barco is connected with a Oehlbach cable, RGBS(HV) with a BNC splitter for the HV signal. The other end is VGA going into my laptop / pc.
Who can tell me where to start finding the problem?

Sounds like you have not selected the proper input with the remote. THe projector is working fine by the sounds of it. You can also select the input with the internal keypad, but usually those buttons oxidize with age, and don't work properly after 10 years of storage. On the 708, the correct input can be selected by pressing 3 through 6. At least one of those should give you the picture.

I was trying yo do what you said Curt, and didn't seem to be working. I was deciding to give it another go tomorrow, and wanted to turn my pc off, but instead pressed restart. During the restart I saw some flashing DOS images and even a stable Windows logo. So now it seems to be pointing at my video drivers (channel 6).
I am relieved to have seen some image and the problem isn't in the Projector hardware.
Thanks VERY MUCH!
Will let you know when it is working again.

Make sure you are outputting negative sync. The Barcos can't handle positive sync, and there may be a setting in your driver menu to select sync. If not, get an Extron 203, which will accept VGA and output 5 BNC. There's a DIP switch on the box that will force negative sync. I may actually have one here for cheap if you need one.
