Hello guys,

I had my first Knight Rider moment Yesterday when installing a new VIM.

Installed A new VIM and projector was working for about 15 minutes

then A NO HSync message appeared and some arrows (from the onscreen graphics).

Switched proj. off and on.

Since then got the moving LED's on the back of the CLM.

took it out , reseated the DB's on it , pushed the socketet chip.

replacement CLM works but do not have the settings of the malfunctioning CLM.

anyone has an idea what else could be done to get the malfunctioning CLM back to work?

Thanks

Michael

Curt,

as stated above, it started showing a No HSync text , followed by arrow down symbols.

Switched it off (via Remote) then back on , HV comes on and after 3 seconds I see the
left to right red LED's.

took the CLM out , took the db's off , pushed on the socketed chips to reseat.

as mentioned, the spare CLM I have works but I don't have the settings saved on the CLM>

Hi,

Check U35 and its socket under the stigmator board. I had the ‘Knight Rider’ effect when something was wrong with it. If the version on Your spare board is identical, You can try swapping them too...

Ah, I thought that was the spare board that did that! Smile

Thanks Barclay66,

the Versions aren't the same , malfunctioning board has 8.0 , replacement spare has 4.5.

I'm tempted to exchange the chips just o see if that's the problem.

but am lacking a chip puller to do that.

Hi,

Don’t try without a proper chip puller. You might break the socket. Please be aware that by installing a CLM with a different firmware version (or U35 which is the PROM holding it), the settings will be reset to defaults anyway. Especially when the version difference is large. It might not happen if You stay within a major version (e.g. 4.2 <-> 4.4) but in Your case it’s very likely...

Thanks, thought about that also.

I've been asking around how to get the settings off the board. as I've been told, the original marquee software only runs on
Win98. when setting the projector up, the settings weren't saved by using the software.
I do have a few screenshots of each setting of the recalls done at that time.

has anyone tried to run the marquee software using VMWare? does the Win98 Marquee software run on WinNT also?

Thanks

Hi,

I don’t know if it will work on Windows NT. But it will be essential that the virtual machine gets access to the physical serial port...
