|
|
I'm familiar with the Barco HFQ900 lens. But does anyone know how the HFQ900HM is any different from a regular HFQ900?
I'm asking because I ended up with a set of these. I probably won't use them as any future system changes to my setup will involve hanging a matched pair of projectors and I don't have two sets of HFQ900HMs.
Knowing what's different about them will also help me to fairly describe them and their capabilities should I choose to offer them up for sale.

I haven't met one of them personally, but searching in the google brought up two things: There was a guy who was selling a projector with mixed HM and regular lenses, from this I guess there is no significant throw distance between them. The other reference was pointing out that a HM lens was missing antireflection coating off its front element, which resulted in somewhat blurry picture. Now to tell how typical is this is not easy, but you can check your lens if it have antireflection coating on the front element...

I saw the same things in my search. So what I'm going to do is set up a lens test shootout and figure it out for myself.
I will set up, in my garage, my Marquee test projector and put each kind of lens I have on the green tube, and try to quantify
what's different about them.
HD10L, Elcan VDC made (expected to be the best)
HD10L, 3M/USPL made (smaller screens)
HD10GT17
HD10F
HFQ900HM
I have full sets of all of these, and multiple sets of most. I have five sets of Fs, two sets of GT17s, two sets of VDC Ls,
and three or four sets of USPL Ls.
I think I have enough lenses!
