I scored this off a curb a few days ago. I had it hooked up to my Extron 204 scaler. It ran fine for 3 hours until....

I RTFM on the scaler and found out it could do 72Hz output. The monitor started rolling and booom! Burnt electronics smell. LOL

I feel sorry for the little guy. Before I open it up any guesses as to what blew up? Very Happy

Got a whole crapload of Dell CRT monitors still (mainly to accompany the Dell PCs I have for them). No M780sm but I sold the hell out of those about 5-6 years ago when my city was upgrading their IT equipment. I literally had a ocean of Dell M780 and P790 (and even some awesome P1130 21" Trinitrons) covering my whole first floor of the house. I never thought I'd get rid of them all, but they all sold on ebay Neutral

I now wish I had held onto the P1130 CRTs... I think I have 2 of them left and the rest are 17" units Sad

I thiiiiink a resistor fried on your CRT Razz

I started to pull the screws outta this then realized it's 2:30 am and I don't care that much. I'll get back to it after the big day.

Yeah it didn't smell like a cap so you might be right.
