Hey all! Long time no see Very Happy

Anywho, as title suggests , what are the odds? The stack has been rock solid for the last year apart from the monthly drift which I'm used to now.
At this rate I'm guessing the demise of these will be the quads at this rate as I have enough tubes to see me through a life time Mr. Green

Yeah mate same planetarium install and same year, same hours. 2005 build with 22000 hours on the sets.
I replaced one quad when I got the set and they have both been fine for a year now. The one that had the quad replaced had the eht fail as well, so I'm guessing the eht took out the quad as well? ( Curt? )
The other set hasnt been touched so maybe it was just a coincidence them both going within a week or so of each other.
I'm gonna need to stock up on these things or just pull the plug all together once I run out I suppose.

Dave

Don't use the original 909 quads with the single lead. They are junk, and I've had low hour 909s have those fail. Crappy silicone goes conductive after 6 or so years. Use the old style, and heat shrink the focus lead about 4 layers, and tie it off so that the rubber/covered end floats in the chassis, away from the metal sides. That's what I do now. I have a limited number of tested working quads if you're out.

Hi Curt

Yeah thats exactly what I've been doing, dont have heat shrink so just electrical will tape will do no?

I have about 4 quads left so will see how we go Smile

Hi Dave,
I have had similar problems. One quad failed so I went through the spares I had and 3 of the 4 that no longer work. Looks like they have died from sitting around. Also had 2 splitters fail.

Greg.

Ok so ive changed the quad for a new one and replaced EHT. Same issue, im getting no red leds on eht , rear of tubes glow but no crackle so im guessing no hv to tubes. Splitter?
Hate changing those things when ceiling mounted.

HV shutdown could be caused by deflection coils, horizontal board, EHT, Quad, splitter. Check the scan fail circuit.

Check the plug on the Quad is in correctly, not one pin across. This is easy to do when they are ceiling mounted. Done it myself. Get no red fails and no EHT.

A dead or shorted tube could also create this problem with no EHT LED. Unplug the HV lead one tube at a time.

Did you check h-shift and focus board. If thats bad no HV and no red LED.

Only other suggestion is H-Shift and Focus board. If the 909 works like other Barco PJs then there is a pulse from that board required for HV if it fails no HV no LED on EHT.
