So I picked up some HD-134 lenses for my G70 from one of the members here and now have time to swap them out. Was wondering how much is involved? Is it a simple change over or is there much more to it?

Swapped out the lenses and warmed the unit before any adjustments. From the outset they needed focusing as well as re-centering. I can say the added sharpness is immediately noticeable, but not in a menu adjusted/digital way... natural. Had to leave before trying different sources/media and tweaking the contrast from what I can see. I'll post results today.

All in all the swap out of the lenses were straightforward enough. That goes with expectation of having to re-focus each lens to your display and dialing in that sharpness. Re-centering each lens and in my case lowering contrast. I pretty much had no need for zone adjustments due to the sharpness of these lenses.
After watching different sources... blu ray, hd-dvd, hd-satelite, D-Vhs, I'd have to say picture improvements were worth it. It's not as drastic as going from standard to high def., more like going from having a well dialed in CRT to a CRT with digital sharpness. Images have more pop around the edges... say like leaves/branches on trees, MPAA preview ratings, studio logos, opening credits, etc... Images have more 3D presence within scenes be it movies like The Fifth Element, Drumline, Elizabeth, Transformers AOE, or the insane looking Avatar and How to Train Your Dragon 2. Watching preseason footbal and the newscast were very close to watching a direct view display.
