Canon and their partners seem to be deliberately holding off on delivering products. I look at OLED much in the same manner as I do SED, which are probably going to be plasma and LED killers. As such, the plasma and LCD markets are doing considerably well to deliberately shorten their milking cycle.
For instance, let's say the largest two energy providers concurrently came up with their own implementation for fusion power and could deliver electricity at 1/100 the cost of today's conventional methods. Would you implement it now or wait while you milk the current systems in place?
Businesses are not philantropists. They seek to benefit themselves well before the consumer or society benefits.
